Life sentence for Northern Cape man who raped two minors in 2016

A man has been sentenced to life in prison by the Douglas Regional Court in the Northern Cape for raping two minors in 2016.

Sipho Selowi raped the two girls aged 10 and 12 after he lured them to his shack, having requested them to assist him to look for his misplaced memory stick.

The court heard that the girls were raped while Selowi’s girlfriend slept after consuming alcohol.

NPA provincial spokesperson, Mojalefa Senokoatsane, elaborates: “The court found the evidence of young victims to be credible and rejected the accused’s version as false and improbable. The National Prosecuting Authority welcomes this sentence as it sends a strong and clear message that justice will prevail no matter how long it takes.”
