Ellis opts for three captains for Wafcon

The coach of the South African women’s football team, Desiree Ellis, has stuck to the recipe that worked for her in 2022 when Banyana Banyana won the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title for the very first time.

She has named three captains in her 26-player squad for this year’s edition of the tournament to be played in Morocco from the 5th to the 26th of next month.

Midfielders Refiloe Jane and Amogelang Motau, as well as defender Lebohang Ramalepe will share the responsibilities.

Ellis again opted for the three captains not to burden one player with all the responsibility for the duration of a three-week long tournament.

Banyana start the defense of their title with a Group C match against Ghana in Oujda on 07 July.
