Oracle Red Bull Racing driver Max Verstappen
Red Bull’s Max Verstappen beat McLaren’s Lando Norris to pole position for tonight’s Miami Grand Prix in Florida. Verstappen was just six hundredths of a second faster than Norris, who won the sprint race earlier on Saturday.
Verstappen is racing in a car with an upgraded floor this weekend. Thanks to an outstanding performance in Q3, he secured his third pole position of the year.
Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli, on pole for the sprint, grabbed third, ahead of the second McLaren of Oscar Piastri. Mercedes’ George Russell was fifth, with Williams’ Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon in sixth and seventh place.
Ferrari, however, struggled. Charles Leclerc will start in eight place with Lewis Hamilton down in 12th.
Piastri still tops the drivers’ standings on 106 points, with Norris second, nine points adrift.
