An international boxing tournament to celebrate Youth Month has been launched in Limpopo.
The tournament dubbed “survival of the fittest” will be staged by Mama Rocks boxing promotion on the 27th of June in Thohoyandou.
It will consist of 10 bouts, including a title fight between WBF Intercontinental bantamweight champion Akani Sambu and Sabelo Cebekhulu.
MEC for Sports in Limpopo Jerry Maseko says the tournament will also guide them on their strategy to support young boxers.
“This is going to be an international boxing tournament where certain countries from SADC and in Africa will be represented by their boxers, and South African boxers. We call upon each and every citizen in this province to rally behind this boxing because it highlights the capacity of our young boxers in the province and how we should support them as part of our young people in celebration of the youth month.”
