South Africa’s Garrick Higgo
South Africa’s Garrick Higgo is back in the winner’s circle on the PGA Tour.
The 25-year-old left-hander from Stellenbosch won the Corales Puntacana Championship in the Dominican Republic, courtesy of a final round of even par 72 and American Joel Dahmen’s late meltdown.
Higgo finished on 274, 14-under-par, one-stroke clear of Dahmen who bogeyed his last two holes.
It was Higgo’s second win on the PGA Tour following his victory at the 2021 Palmetto Championship at Congaree.
His latest triumph earned him a two-year exemption on tour and invitations to other more lucrative and exclusive events.
The tournament in the Dominican Republic was played parallel with the Heritage Classic at Hilton Head, South Carolina, which was won by former world number one, Justin Thomas.
He beat fellow American Andrew Novak in a play-off for his first win in three years.
South Africa’s Garrick Higgo claimed his second PGA Tour title on Sunday, winning the Punta Cana Championship by a stroke after a late collapse from American Joel Dahmen.#SABCSportGolf
