PSG players in training
Paris St Germain (PSG) cannot afford any complacency as they prepare to take on Aston Villa in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday, manager Luis Enrique insisted despite his side’s two-goal cushion in the tie.
Desire Doue, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Nuno Mendes scored in the first leg to earn PSG a 3-1 comeback win and dent Villa’s hopes of making it to the semi-finals.
PSG, who have already won a fourth straight Ligue 1 title and have also reached the French Cup final, are aiming to capture an elusive Champions League title and secure a treble.
Aston Villa, meanwhile, must make home advantage count and draw energy from their supporters, manager Unai Emery said.
Barcelona vs Dortmund
Barcelona are fully focused on Tuesday’s quarter-final return leg against Borussia Dortmund, head coach Hansi Flick said on Monday.
Despite a comfortable 4-0 win at home last week, Flick said it was important for his side to stay focused, show their strength and play like they want to win the game.
“We now have to concentrate on the game against Dortmund. It’s a tough task that we have ahead of us and we want to tackle it,” said Flick.
“Everything else is the future,” he added with regard to the Copa del Rey final against Real Madrid on April 26.
Barcelona will face Dortmund without their left back Alejandro Balde, who sustained a hamstring injury in the 1-0 win over Leganes at the weekend.
“It’s always unpleasant when you lose a player with the quality that (Alejandro) Balde has. But (Martin) Gerard has made excellent progress, he’s doing really, really well and that’s why we have absolute confidence in him,” the former Bayern Munich and German national team coach said.
