Goosen expects Edinburgh’s Everitt to have a plan for clash

Bulls replacement, Johan Goosen, says he expects Edinburgh coach Sean Everitt to have a few tricks up his sleeve for their European Challenge Cup quarter-final clash in the Scottish capital, Edinburgh, on Saturday.

Everitt has worked with coach Jake White at the Sharks and Loftus Versfeld, and knows the Bulls’ set-up well.

The Pretoria side is the only South African team in the quarter-finals of the competition after they beat Bayonne 32-22 in a round of 16 match in France last weekend, which allowed them to move into the last eight of the competition for the first time.

Goosen says he has known Sean for a while, and he is a great coach

“I’ve known Coach Sean for a while, he was coaching here at the Bulls. I must say he is a great guy, a great coach. I think he will have a few tricks up his sleeve so it will be a tough match for us. It’s a quarter-final, anything can happen.”

Goosen further says the wind might be an obstacle, but it will be a nice match to play in.

“It’s a difficult place to play and the wind can be a factor today. But we’ve played them in the past and we have ideas on how to play them there. They have a few South Africans there. A few big guys. The set piece will be massive. If we can get one over them in the set piece, it will be a nice match and a good match to play in.”

The Bulls have enjoyed three consecutive victories in the URC and Challenge Cup, and beat Edinburgh in Pretoria in September last year and many consider them favorites to win the clash, but it won’t be easy.

The Scottish side recently defeated the Dragons and Lions, and have proven to be a tough outfit at home.

The clash kicks off Saturday afternoon at 13:30.

In the day’s other two quarter-finals, Ospreys will host Lyon, while Connacht will face Racing 92 at home.
