Banyana Banyana players embrace after scoring a goal.
Banyana Banyana came from a goal down to beat Malawi 2-1 in the second leg international friendly at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville.
Hilda Magaia scored the crucial equaliser in the 75th minute and Amogelang Motau came up with a stunning winner just three minutes from full-time.
Banyana faced a very different Malawi from the one they beat 3 nil in the first leg on Saturday. It was a difficult day for the national team but should serve them in good stead as they prepare to defend their Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title in July.
Coach Desiree Ellis was pleased to get the win, although she admitted her team struggled today.
“This team never gives up and the two goals that we scored got us the win and we fought back. We showed that we are a team that never quits but the performance was not great today.”
