Mamelodi Sundowns beat Tunisia’s Esperance Tunis 1-nil in the first leg of their CAF Champions league quarter-final tie at the Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria on Tuesday afternoon.
A second-half goal by striker Peter Shalulile secured Sundowns their first victory over Esperance since 2000 and ended the Tunisian side’s dominance over the South African side.
The win improves Sundowns’ chances of reaching the semi-final of Africa’s premier club football competition.
The second leg of the tie will be played in Tunis next Tuesday.
A strong finish back in the #TotalEnergiesCAFCL! Now, the focus shifts to the 2nd leg 💪
