The Investec South African Open Championship, one of the world’s oldest golf tournaments, begins today at the Durban Country Club.
A strong field of golfers will compete for the prestigious title.
Defending champion and South Africa’s LIV Golf member, Dean Burmester, will be aiming to retain his title after securing a three-stroke victory in last season’s Sunshine Tour and DP World Tour co-sanctioned event.
He says, “Proud to be the defending champion, proud to stand here as a South African, and having lifted that trophy last year was a really emotional and special moment for me. To relive it here in Durban at the old lady, the Durban Country Club, is amazing.”
