Two officials suspended following withdrawal of AI draft policy


Two officials from the Department of Communications and Digital Technologies (DCDT) have been placed on precautionary suspension with immediate effect following the withdrawal of the Draft National Artificial Intelligence Policy.

The draft policy was withdrawn after it was discovered that it contained fictitious sources in its references.

In a statement, the department says it has conducted an internal review to determine the facts as part of its commitment to accountability.

The department says the matter is still under investigation and the outcome will be communicated.
