MKP to file no-confidence motion against Ramaphosa

The uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MKP) has formally given notice to the Speaker of the National Assembly, Thoko Didiza, of its intention to file a motion of no confidence in President Cyril Ramaphosa.

The correspondence by MKP Parliamentary leader, Dr John Hlophe, also requests for this to be done by a secret ballot.

This follows yesterday’s Constitutional Court judgment.

The party says the proceedings will have to be done through a secret ballot, to safeguard the independence and integrity of members votes.

It has asked that the motion be prioritised, and scheduled, debated and voted upon within a reasonable period, and without undue delay.

The MKP says Parliament has continually failed to hold the President accountable, thereby undermining the rule of law.
