Delft shooting victim’s father suspects gang-related extortion motive


The father of one of the victims of a mass shooting in Delft on the Cape Flats says his 42-year-old son could have been a victim of gang-related extortion.
Six people have been shot and killed in two separate attacks on the Cape Flats over the past few hours.
Police in Elsies River are investigating the death of a couple whose bodies were discovered in an informal dwelling in Avonwood.
In the latest incident, four people, including a 13-year-old boy, were shot execution-style in Delft on Wednesday night.
Desmond Petersen says it’s not the first time an attempt was made to extort his family.
