DA Leader Geordin Hill-Lewis in Limpopo
The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Limpopo says its aim in the next local government elections is to win back wards they lost in the previous local government elections.
The party is holding its provincial congress in Polokwane this Saturday.
DA Federal Leader, Geordin Hill-Lewis and Federal Chairperson, Solly Msimanga, are also in attendance.
The delegates who came from across the province will elect the party’s top structure, including the Provincial Chairperson, currently held by Lindy Wilson.
Wilson is contesting the position with the former leader, Jacques Smalle.
The DA’s Deputy Federal Chairperson, Solly Malatsi, says the party’s ambition is to win more wards.
“In the last election, we lost a total of 12 councillors, so we want to regain some of the wards we lost, but our biggest ambition is threefold. One, to be the second-largest party in all of the councils. Secondly, to increase the number of wards that we would win, and thirdly, to increase the number of PR seats because the more representation you have in councils, the more power and influence you have in holding the government of the day accountable”, Malatsi says.
