Brown Mogotsi’s bail application postponed to next week Monday

A North West-based self-proclaimed South African Police Service (SAPS) informant, Brown Mogotsi, will remain behind bars for the week after his bail application was postponed to next Monday.

Mogotsi appeared briefly in Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court, where he is facing a charge of defeating the ends of justice, stemming from a shooting incident which he allegedly staged in Vosloorus, south-east of Johannesburg, in November last year.

Mogotsi was arrested on Friday after appearing before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry in Pretoria.

After spending the weekend behind bars, Mogotsi made his first appearance in court, dressed in a blue hooded jacket.

Mogotsi seemed calm and composed in the dock, despite his attorney earlier saying that he was not coping well whilst in custody.

He will remain in custody until his next appearance, on Monday next week, where he is expected to apply for bail.

He has been remanded back in custody.
