Gauteng police say they are on the hunt for more suspects linked to the cash-in-transit heist in Laudium, west of Pretoria on Monday evening.

Six suspects were killed in a shootout with police, while a 22-year-old suspect was arrested at the scene.

Gauteng Deputy Provincial Commissioner Major General Fred Kekana says the suspects are linked to a cash-in-transit heist that happened last week in Atteridgeville.

“The Audi that was used here, we found out that it was hijacked during December, at Cleveland and the BMW X5 that is still standing here, we are waiting for the forensics to finish their job and we are going to check and investigate further whether it was stolen or robbed. These suspects are linked to a cash-in-transit heist that happened last week Saturday in another mall in Atteridgeville where 4 security guards were shot and cash van money was robbed.”
