Five suspected robbers shot and fatally wounded in a shootout with police at Ntuzuma.
Five suspected robbers have been killed in a shootout with police in Ntuzuma, north of Durban.
Police spokesperson Robert Netshiunda says information indicated the suspects were planning to commit a business robbery in KwaMashu. When police arrived, they found the suspects engaged in a disagreement that led to gunfire among themselves.
Two additional suspects, injured during the altercation, were later found at a hospital.
Netshiunda says, “They suspected that the suspects had a disagreement with shots being fired among themselves. Police stumbled upon the altercation and the suspects turned their guns on police and police retaliated during the shootout 4 suspects were shot and fatally wounded.”
“A search in the vicinity of the crime scene led to the discovery of the body of a 5th suspect who attempted to flee and had sustained gunshot wounds,” adds Netshiunda.
