The South African Police Services (SAPS) has recovered the body of a nine-year-old boy at the site of a possible illegal electrical connection at an informal settlement in Soshanguve in Block X.
This is after the boy’s mother reported him missing at Rietgat Police Station this morning.
Police spokesperson, Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi, says all indications are that the boy was electrocuted.
“The police have opened an inquest docket following a recovery of a nine-year-old boy, who was reported missing by his mother at Rietgat Police Station on the early hours of 21 February 2025. His lifeless body was recovered on the same day at about 10:00 am lying on a pile of possible illegal electrical connection at an informal settlement in Soshanguve Block X. His body was electrocuted and certified dead by Emergency Medical Service,” says Nevhuhulwi.
