The incident comes months after several suspects were arrested in connection with the mass killing of 18 people in Ngobozana village, Lusikisiki, in September 2024.
One of the accused, currently serving a life sentence at Bhogweni C-Max prison in Kokstad, KwaZulu-Natal, appeared briefly in the Lusikisiki Magistrate’s Court. The suspect, believed to be the mastermind behind the massacre, abandoned his bail application and chose to represent himself.
National Prosecuting Authority regional spokesperson Luxolo Tyali confirmed that the number of accused now stands at seven, all facing charges of murder and possession of unlicensed firearms.
