The City of Tshwane’s poor finances is under the spotlight yet again. This as Tshwane Mayor Dr Nasiphi Moya gave feedback on her 100 days in office.

Dr Moyà from ActionSA was elected as Tshwane Executive Mayor in October last year, after the DA’s Cillier Brink was toppled through a motion of no confidence.

Dr Moya kicked off her administration last year with a 100-day Action Plan which would be carried out through six priority areas and financial stability is top of the agenda.

Giving feedback on her administration’s performance over the past 100 days in office, Dr Moya confirmed that Tshwane’s debt stood at over R11 billion, with R6.76 billion owed to Eskom alone.

Moya also emphasized that the demand for capital investment over the next decade exceeds R65 billion, while the City’s current annual capital budget is only R2.3 billion.
