Last week, state witness and forensic pathologist, Dr Annemarie Mattheus told the court that Terblanche died from multi-drug intoxication.
Today, Crime Scene Investigator, Phillip Rudolph Bekker took the stand as the first witness. Using data from Leach’s vehicle tracker, Baker mapped the vehicle’s movements around the time of the murder.

State Prosecutor, Marius Stander argues that the data supports the state’s claim that Leach murdered and buried Terblanche’s body in a shallow grave.
Stander :Image 11 and 12?
Bekker:Ring that was on the right finger of the deceased
Stander :What does the jewellery on a deceased tell us?
Bekker :It was not a robbery because in a robbery the jewellery would’ve been removed. Its a red flag for us to investigate more. #sabcnews— Lerato Fekisi (@LThipa) February 11, 2025
