A gavel in the courtroom.
The heightened tensions over the traditional leadership of Bakgatla-Ba-Kgafela at Moruleng near Rustenburg in the North West are in the spotlight again.
This after the latest decision by the North West government to reinstate Kgosi Nyalala Pilane’s certificate of recognition.
The latest decision by the provincial government to reinstate Pilane’s certificate of recognition has further divided the royal family.
Pilane welcomes the decision, while the Bakgatla Paramount Chief Kgafela Kgafela is fuming.
“We are very elated because we come from far with this problem. firstly because we did not have any reason for them to withdraw or de-recognise me.”
“What the current premier has done is that second aspect of illegality, his actions are flawed with illegality from all sides you may consider. That’s why we intend to approach the court to set aside, apart from other avenues that we are pursuing as we plan on approaching the president to reprimand and make sure that he obeys the law.”
Meanwhile, the provincial government which has recently reinstated Pilane’s certificate of recognition, says they are unable to comment further as there is a pending court application lodged by Ramono Pilane-Linchwe, challenging the decision of the Premier to withdraw his recognition certificate.
