Mangaung Metro resident continue to suffer water shortage issues

Residents of Bloemfontein and the surrounding areas that fall under the Mangaung metro municipality continue to suffer low water pressure and no running water for weeks. Several reasons have been advanced by the municipality over the past weeks, ranging from water turbidity to unclogging of the filters.

Mangaung metro spokesperson, Qondile Khedama, says the city is busy with the main treatment plant at Maselspoort with filtration of the system. Khedama says they are currently busy with the process of making sure the filtration system is done while also providing water through Jojo tanks.

“We are saying to residents of Mangaung, be patient; we are about to finish with this process and once we are done with the process the storage capacity will be enough to redistribute water equally to both the south part of Mangaung and the northern part. The other thing that is important if there’s a case where there are inconsistencies is that we provide Jojo’s and water tankers where people will know exactly where to get them. And we do encourage them to talk to the municipality in case there is no water or Jojo tanks at all so that they are able to get water,” says Khedama.
