Shaft 11 in Stilfontein where illegal miners were evacuated.
Acting North West Police Commissioner Patrick Asaneng says the suspected illegal mining kingpin in Stilfontein Neo Tshoaeli is still at large.
He, however, says they hope to get some information about his whereabouts before four police officers who allegedly aided him make their second court appearance.
Tshoaeli, who is popularly known as Tiger, escaped after emerging from underground during a government-led operation earlier this month.
Asaneng says the four officers are expected to reappear in the same court in March.
“The four suspects have since appeared before the Stilfontein Magistrate’s Court and they have since been granted bail of a thousand rand. They are expected to appear before court on the 5th of March 2025. Before the next court appearance of these four members, we will know exactly what happened and where this suspect is, so we are dealing with this matter and we are sure that we will really unravel what happened.”
