The Johannesburg Emergency Services say they are ready to respond to any heat-related emergencies in the City.
This as the South African Weather Service issues a warning for a heat wave in the City this weekend.
Temperatures are expected to increase to above 37 degrees Celsius.
EMS spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi has advised residents to take necessary precautions.
“Residents are urged to stay hydrated, drink lots of water, try and avoid direct sunlight especially between 11am and 3pm in the afternoon. Those who are working directly in the sunlight to take regular breaks as exposure to these extremely hot temperatures can cause heat cramps, heat exhaustion which might lead to a heat stroke.”
