Lt-Gen Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi
KwaZulu-Natal police say that they have noted with grave concern what they term a malicious character assassination against provincial Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi. They say accusations are being peddled via social platforms.
The police would, however, not state what these allegations are.
Police in KwaZulu-Natal are appealing to anyone who has any incriminating evidence against Mkhwanazi to open a case.
“Police refute the allegations in that vile communique as baseless and unfounded and as a cheap attempt to create instability within the police machinery not only in the province but nationally. Police in KZN have been attaining notable successes in the recent past and are continuing to make criminals uncomfortable. Such relentless pursuit of criminal groups and the smuggling of many of them have made some criminal handlers uncomfortable, and some of them are now trying to have a comeback through the court of public opinion. This poorly prodded allegation whose aim is to create animosity between General Mkhwanazi and his seniors as colleagues in the province will never hold any water,” says Provincial Police spokesperson, Robert Netshiunda.
