The Police Commercial Crimes Unit have raided the offices of the Cape Town Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security JP Smith.

Police spokesperson Andre Traut says they are conducting further probes into housing tender fraud in the construction sector within the Cape Town municipality.

Investigators descended on the Municipality’s offices this morning as part of an ongoing alleged fraud construction case.

Mayoral Committee Member for Human Settlements Malusi Booi currently faces fraud charges relating to tenders worth over a billion rand.

Traut says there’s been no arrests but investigations are ongoing.
