Inanda residents shocked after discovery of five bodies

2 minutes

Residents of Inanda in Durban are struggling to come to terms with this morning’s discovery of five bodies in their area. The bodies were found in the Bambayi area.

The victims, aged between 19 and 26 years old, are believed to have been hacked to death.

Some residents pointed out the bodies. One of them, Ntokozo Dladla, is calling for the revival of local community structures.

“It is a sad story to see teenagers lying down on the ground which means there is a story behind it and something wrong is happening. I think police should intervene and try to solve the cases of murder.”

Dladla says the community should work together.

“I think the community should come together and try to have better solutions and they must communicate with the youth about safety issues and how to behave in the community. I think local forums can help a lot and even at night we cannot walk around if there are forums because they can tell you to go back.”
