The Gauteng Roads and Transport Department has issued a notice to all scholar transport drivers to ensure that they operate roadworthy vehicles.
This is as the 2025 academic year kicks off this week.
MEC Kedibone Diale Tlabela has warned operators who will not comply with operating licensing regulations that strong action will be taken against them.
The department’s spokesperson Lesiba Mpya says, “We will not be allowing illegality to happen on the road. Those that do not possess valid operating license will not be allowed to transport learners and may have their vehicles fined or impounded.”
