The Ministry of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs has confirmed that Minister Velenkosini Hlabisa is safe and at home with his family after his security team’s vehicle was involved in a fatal crash on the N2.
The crash occurred in the northbound direction near Stanger in KwaZulu-Natal on Saturday.
Hlabisa’s driver died in the crash.
“Minister Hlabisa extends his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family at this unfortunate hour of pain. Out of respect for the dearly departed and the family of the deceased, the minister has requested that the privacy of the family be respected and that they be given space to mourn in peace,” says COGTA Spokesperson Pearl Maseko-Binqose.
