Thabazimbi residents blame flooding on poor planning

1 minute

Some residents of Northam, outside Thabazimbi in Limpopo, have been stranded in their flooded homes for several days. This comes as parts of the province continue to experience heavy rainfall.

Schools and roads have been damaged in various areas.

Residents have criticised the Thabazimbi local authority for failing to build a stormwater system as part of its R7 million road project.

“My house is very affected. I don’t know where to go when it is raining. I’m very affected emotionally and physically. I don’t have anything in this house. My house is flooded. There is water all over. The situation is worsened by the pavement of the road which was done without a water storm which makes it easy for water to flow into our homes”. says one of the disappointed residents.”
