South Africa experienced heavy rain in some parts of the country.
The authorities in Mpumalanga have cautioned members of the public against attempting to cross overflowing streams and rivers. This after a 27-year-old woman and a 19-year-old man went missing in Mkhondo on Monday.
The authorities suspect that the Assegaai River which burst its banks after heavy rains could have swept them away.
Police divers are still searching for the two.
Provincial police spokesperson Donald Mdhluli says, “Yesterday the operation had to be called off after our SAPS diving unit went to the area. So, they’re still searching, they haven’t been found. We urge members of the public to refrain from these rivers because we had a lot of rain so that we don’t have any incidents where people will go missing or they will drown.”
