Bail application for five murder suspects postponed

The bail application for five men accused of murdering a 27-year-old man has been postponed to Friday in the Kimberley Magistrate’s Court, Northern Cape.

The deceased was allegedly seen on CCTV footage stealing a cellphone from a car parked at a house in Homevale. He was later tracked down with the help of the neighbourhood watch.

Provincial police spokesperson Timothy Sam says, “The police in Roodepan are investigating a murder case following the death of a 27-year-old male in Homevale, Kimberley, on Saturday, 28 December 2024. Preliminary investigations indicate that the victim, who later collapsed and died at his home in Homestead, was allegedly spotted on CCTV camera footage stealing a cellphone out of a motor vehicle parked at a house in Homevale.”

Sam adds: “He was tracked down through the assistance of the neighbourhood watch. The police arrested five suspects aged between 30 and 62 years old for murder. The police investigations are continuing.”
