The police in Winburg in the Free State have arrested a 21-year-old man for murder after he allegedly fatally stabbed his 42-year-old father in the chest at a local tavern.
“It is alleged on New Years Day around 11am the father and son were at a local tavern when an argument ensued between them leading to the alleged stabbing,” says Free State police spokesperson, Sergeant Mahlomola Kareli.
“The 42-year-old victim was taken to the local hospital with stab wound on the chest where he later succumbed to his injuries.,” Kareli adds.
Hospital personnel informed the police and a murder case docket was registered.
Kareli says preliminary investigations were conducted and the 21-year-old suspect was subsequently arrested for the murder.
He will appear in the Winburg Magistrate’s court soon.
