Water running from a tap.
The City of Tshwane is still yet to give the green light on the consumption of water in Hammanskraal. The residents in the area have been experiencing water supply challenges for two decades.
The city is concluding tests to confirm if their water supply is safe for consumption.
A portable wastewater treatment plant has been constructed to supply water to the area – however it is being delayed due to challenges.
The city is currently flushing its pipes and supplying the township with tested water quality, to ensure that the water is compliant.
City of Tshwane spokesperson Selby Bokaba says communities will be advised when it is safe to consume tap water.
“Based on the turbidity challenges experienced in past few weeks in regard to the provision of clean drinking water to community of Hammanskraal, Magalies Water and the City of Tshwane will continue to flush the system and monitor the water quality to clear the turbidity in the network. This is aimed at ensuring the water quality is compliant of sans specifications. A formal notification will be issued by the City of Tshwane in the near future.”
