Firefighters extinguish Table Mountain fire on April 20, 2021

The City of Cape Town says a suspect has been arrested for allegedly causing a fire on Table Mountain.
Mayco Member for Safety and Security, JP Smith, says SANParks rangers and the city’s law enforcement officers worked together to apprehend the suspect.
Smith says the alleged arsonist is currently in police custody.
He says the fire along the front face of Table Mountain has been contained.
Smith says, “During the search, officers discovered a suspect crouched in the undergrowth along the roadway. Acting decisively the officers tactically apprehended the individual and called for backup to secure the detention.”
