Equipment damaged at the Annual Fun Games and Music Festival in Makwassie.
Police in North West say they have not yet made arrests following the torching and damaging of equipment at the Annual Fun Games and Music Festival in Makwassie near Wolmaranstad.
Patrons appeared to be angry when the artist Ndivhudzannyi Ralivhona also known as Makhadzi did not show up yesterday morning.
The organisers and Makhadzi’s management team apparently had some unresolved logistical issues.
Police spokesperson Adele Myburgh says the stage and other equipment worth an estimated R3 million were burnt down.
“Investigations into the incident are underway and no arrest has been effected. Police request anyone who may have information that can assist in the investigation to contact the station commander of Makwassie, Captain Bereng Hlasa, on 082 575 8377 or the South African Police Service (SAPS) crime stop number: 08600 10111. Anonymous tip-offs can also be communicated via the Mysaps app from your smart phone.”
