Gauteng Health MEC Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko has expressed concern about the increased number of medical emergencies in the province during this festive season.
Nkomo-Ralehoko was visiting the Gauteng Emergency Medical Service operations centre in Midrand, north of Johannesburg, to assess medical emergency responses since the beginning of the festive season.
She says their teams are fully prepared for any eventuality.
“We are worried. Earlier, you saw the numbers. They are up. They are surpassing even the numbers of the previous Christmas. We will give you a report so that you can see the detailed numbers. On the 31st, we do not know where we will be. But we are praying that the numbers do not grow. But they are growing very fast. Even in the system, you can see.”
