Eastern Cape Premier, Oscar Mabuyane has called on road users to exercise caution on the roads, especially at this time of year.
The current death toll from crashes in the province is approaching 90 since the start of the festive season.
Mabuyane says reckless driving will not be tolerated.
Premier’s spokesperson Khuselwa Rantjie says, “Motorists are urged to avoid distractions while driving, be cautious and be respectful to other road users.”
“The premier has encouraged all road users to share the road, meaning that we all must be responsible and look out for each other on the roads. On behalf of the EC government premier Mabuyane has extended deepest condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones during this period.”
