Pfananani “Makhadzi” Mphelo
The death of retired SABC Phalaphala FM newsreader Pfananani “Makhadzi” Mphelo has been described as a tragic loss to broadcasting. Mphelo died at her home at Mahlasedi Park outside Polokwane on Thursday.
Former SABC colleagues have described her as a dedicated newsreader who was committed to imparting newsreading skill to the next generation. Munghana Lonene’s Bulletin Editor Lucy Ndlovu, who worked closely with Makhadzi, says her contribution to the broadcasting of Tshivenda news is unmatched.
“Makhadzi your departure came as a shock. We worked well together for over two decades, You were very committed to your work. What I will miss most about you is how you always made us all laugh. You were full of life, kindness and love. Rest in peace.”
