Hessequa municipality welcomes holiday makers to the Garden Route

The Hessequa district in the Western Cape has held its Seasonal Welcome and Safety Campaign at Riversdale, to welcome holidaymakers to the Garden Route.

Various stakeholders including the Provincial Traffic Services, Provincial and local Tourist Support Services and the Department of Social Development, formed part of the reception.

The Hessequa district boasts six Blue Flag Beaches, coastal camping facilities as well as its latest accolade being named the UNESCO World Heritage Site Nature Reserve.

With holidaymakers streaming into the region via the N2, the spotlight is on road safety.

The Mayor of the Garden Route District Municipality, Andrew Stroebel says, “Today, I’m at Riversdale in Hessequa. Hessequa is the gateway to the garden route and we are here to welcome all the visitors and the holidaymakers to say, welcome to the most beautiful garden route and we and myself want you to enjoy your holiday.”
