Various government ministers leading the multidisciplinary team on foodborne illnesses and illicit trade will brief the media today in Pretoria on the action plan implemented by government to manage the foodborne illnesses.

More than 20 children have died from foodborne illnesses.

Many fell ill after consuming snacks allegedly bought from local spaza shops.

Soweto

Spazashop owners are expected back at the Jabulani Civic Center in Soweto today.

The deadline to register spaza shops ended yesterday. However, the centre extended the registrations after it ran out of application forms.

Gauteng Spaza Shop and Landlord Forum Chairperson, Veli Khumalo says,  “All these undocumented won’t own a spaza shop. We will make sure they go, they don’t qualify. But the documented who got asylum seekers (status), we will help them to register their shops as the person in the sale.”
