While Rand Water is of the view that its massive infrastructure maintenance project in the City of Johannesburg is happening at the right time, some Joburg residents say the timing is bad considering the current heatwave in the city.
Joburg Water is performing an 86 hour system maintenance, which is affecting residents supplied by the Eikenhof pump station.
Parts of Randburg, Roodepoort, Soweto and Johannesburg Central have been affected.

The bulk water supply entity says they chose the off peak season, due to industries having closed and some people having gone on holiday.
However, some Joburg residents are not happy with the timing.
“I do not feel happy because this is taking longer than expected – and they are not even meeting us halfway. We actually have to go out and look for water. Since Thursday, we do not have water, we are moving around carrying water bottles, it’s an inconvenience because you have to get out of your day to go fetch water and water is a need,” says one resident.
