Police in North West say one of the three detainees who escaped from Swartruggens police holding cells on Sunday has been re-arrested.
29-year-old Mpho Madito was re-arrested after he boarded a bus in Tlokweng Village that was headed to Rustenburg.
Police say information received assisted officers from Swartruggens and Phokeng to trace the bus in Boshoek.
Police spokesperson Colonel Adéle Myburgh says escapees, Thapelo Mogwele (Molebatsi (25), detained for theft at Swartruggens and Johannes Mfaladi (28), detained for assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm in Swartruggens are still on the run.
“The police request anyone with information that can assist in the re-arrest of the remaining three escapees, to contact the nearest police station or the Investigating Officer on Cellphone number 082 569 5868.”
