The Gauteng Department of Education says it will be reopening its online application process for school admissions from Wednesday until January 30.
It says over 19 000 learners have not yet been placed in schools due to incomplete applications.
Over 325-000 learners have been successfully placed at schools for the 2025 academic year.
Gauteng Education Department’s spokesperson Steve Mabona says, “If you don’t give us the documents in its entirety, that application will be incomplete. So we then encourage parents, when you open the system on the 11th of December – go in the system and check the schools that are available.”
“We’re not going to avail schools that don’t have space. Parents will then choose the schools. So we are opening on the 11 of December for those that did not comply and those that decided they want to go to Gauteng. So we are accommodating those,” adds Mabona.
