All Grade 1 applicants successfully placed: MEC Chiloane

Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane says all Grade 1 applicants with completed school admission applications have been placed.

Chiloane provided an update on the Grade 1 and Grade 8 learner placements in Gauteng for the 2025 Online Admissions at the Hoërskool Marais Viljoen in Alberton, East of Johannesburg.

Chiloane elaborates, “We are in a better position than we have ever been since we started with online placement. In terms of Grade 1, we have placed all the completed applications.”

Chiloane says only 124 Grade 8 pupils have not been placed in Gauteng and a parents’ meeting will be taking place on Monday night to alleviate any fears they might have.

However, the major challenge lies with Grade 1 placements, as over 8 000 pupils are yet to be placed due to incomplete applications.

Chiloane also notes the successful completion of matric exams in the province and committed to continuing bursaries for Gauteng’s top three achievers.
