A 43-year-old female Paraguayan drug mule has been arrested for drug trafficking at OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg.

According to a statement by the police, the suspect was taken to a local hospital where a medical x-ray revealed the presence of foreign objects in her stomach.

“A total of 33 drug bullets containing cocaine were subsequently released,” reads the statement in part, noting that the arrest marked the fourth drug trafficker bust intercepted at OR Tambo International Airport in the past two weeks. This follows the arrest of another suspected drug trafficker from Brazil earlier this month.

In October, a 29-year-old South African woman was found with R5,4 million worth of cocaine in Ethiopia.
