Men encouraged at Bloemfontein summit to lead the fight against GBV

Men and boys have been urged to lead from the front and confront the scourge of gender-based violence (GBV) in society.

Hundreds of men and boys converged at the Bloemfontein City Hall for a one-day summit that is part of the 16 Days of No Violence Against Women and Children.

Earlier this year, Bloemfontein recorded a disturbing number of femicides, in many of the cases the women were killed by their partners.

Men are encouraged to talk to young boys and open up in order to raise a better generation of men for the future.

Various men’s organisations attended the summit in a bid to change how men should conduct themselves in society.

Similarly, in Durban today a men’s march against GBV and femicide was held led by AmaZulu King Misuzulu.
