The case of former Eskom manager, Frans Hlakudi and his 11 co-accused case has been postponed to March 5 next year for pre-trial by the High Court in Johannesburg.
Hlakudi was arrested for corruption, fraud and money laundering involving R1.4 million that was meant for the upgrade of Kusile Power Station in Mpumalanga in 2017. It was argued in court that some of the co-accused are unfit to take the stand.
Investigative Directorate spokesperson, Henry Mamotheme says, “The matter against Lomas was joined with that of eleven others following his extradition from the United Kingdon in September. Meanwhile, Antonio Trendade who is one of the accused was declared unfit to stand trial by medical practitioners following his medical assessment after declaring ill health. The state has successfully applied for a separation of his case for him to undergo further medical assessment and his matter will be back in court on 8 May, 2025.”
