The Department of Science Technology and Innovation says the Science Forum South Africa gathering is an ideal platform to showcase South Africa as a premier destination for research and innovation.

Over 5 000 participants are attending a weeklong gathering at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) convention centre in Pretoria.

The gathering aims to ignite vibrant discussion on the role of science in society between all stakeholders, the scientific community, government, industry and civil society at large.

Chief Director of the Department, Vinny Pillay elaborates, “And what’s key for South African government? It puts science, technology and innovation in the heartbeat of addressing our challenges. And I think increasingly that’s becoming very important for the whole platform of the science forum South Africa to profile South Africa as a destination for research, development and innovation.”
